After the Fall of Rome, the Catholic Church rebuilt western civilization, in the image of heaven. A thousand years later, the Protestants arrived and began undoing it.

    Certainly not all of it.

(See: the Classical Period, or the Age of Antiquity)

No.  But many of the humans who built it were Christian.

The US constitution has influenced many nations. It was greatly influenced by Christian principles.

    Yes.

If atheists had tried, someone else would have had to re-discover america at a later time, because they would have killed themselves off with irrational hatred.

No people did. Christianity arguably hindered it

Influence, yes. It's way to much to say anyone or any idea exclusively "built" it.

Actually it did play a strong part and denial of this is not constructive.  In the UK the church was instrumental in providing education for all, health care for all and a degree of equality.

This did happen but they have to realise that knowledge changes and that scripture can and has been replaced by science and the progression of human nature.

It is a bit like saying, 'you need to give me £1000 a week because I gave you a tenner 15 years ago.

Is religion still important, well yes...to many people it is but not to everyone and recognition of this is how we will progress.

No. Conservative Christians either had nothing to do with, or were openly hostile to every scientific advancement. They fought against the abolition of slavery, civil rights, women's rights etc..

Then after they lose, they begin taking credit for societal progress they had nothing to do with. . In 20 years, they'll be swearing up and down that they were the ones who fought for gay rights.

There was not much civilization at all before Christianity
