How do I stop message preview box from messenger popping a box over half my phone during game play on Android?

I get these notification boxes that take up half the screen when I'm playing a game on Android cell phone. I want Facebook to notify me of a message but I don't want the preview box taking up half the screen and interrupting game play

    The only thing you can do is Close it out there is no way you can Prevent that from coming up
