Do you agree with Donald Trump, Jr. that the New York DA's office has no right to subpoena his father's financial documents?

Please recall that the investigation was prompted in the first place because Trump's own attorney and several others stated flatly that Donald Trump has a lengthy history of lying on his tax returns and other financial documents and that he maintained two sets of books.  Do you think the NY DA would NOT subpoena you if a bunch of people said you were committing ongoing financial crimes?

Junior isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, and he has zero relevance on the issue.  The DA's office has the right to subpoena anything they can get a judge to agree to.  Junior can run his mouth, but it's just hot air.

And to HarryButts, there's significant evidence that trump inflated the value of his real estate to secure loans, and undervalued those same properties to decrease taxes.  Both of which are fraud, if it can be proven that he did so.

YES. There are so many laws regarding chapter eleven you cannot even make sense of those records.  Corporate law is complicated. Government money and donations could be better spent helping the environment. Do you know if you call IRS with tax questions you get different answers from different agents?  Those who are being this nit picky should try to reform the tax laws instead. For example earned income credit is there for the poor people and social security should be capped for the rich but they should still have to pay the tax.  The maximum amount of credit you can claim for social security is a hundred thousand dollars a year to pay into it for your future.  See over working and holding down two jobs only makes you pay more taxes and your social security benefits are not going to increase.  Those who hold down two jobs should let go of one so some who are unemployed can work.

Other than hatred there is no reason to check anyone's tax returns. perhaps all of NY should do the same. Why not get to bottom if deaths cuoma was responsible, that's way more important..

It isn't about financial documents as such.. It is about Federal income tax returns. Anything illegal on tax returns is INHERENTLY a federal crime, outside the jurisdiction of STATE law enforcement.

With the exception of Federal Income tax fraud, the documents in question CANNOT be evidence of a crime.

The SCOTUS said the Manhattan DA has the right. Everything else is just an opinion.

If the DA suspects a crime was committed, they have every right to subpoena the tax records.

No.  The have the right to do so.  But only if they have a valid reason to suspect Trump committed a tax crime.

They really don't have any evidence to support that belief.  Hating Trump isn't considered evidence of anything, except their own defective characters.

Trump's ex-attorney Cohen made a lot of other false claims against Trump, in his slimy effort to reduce the punishment for his own personal crimes.
