(a) What is the probability that the couple will produce a colorblind daughter?

(b) What is the probability that the couple will produce a colorblind son?

(c) If the couple produces a son, what is the probability the son is colorblind?

    a) Probability of a daughter = 1/2

    Probability that daughter is colorblind = 0. So,

    1/2 X 0 = 0

    b) Probability of a son = 1/2

    Probability of a colorblind male = 1/2. So,

    1/2 X 1/2 = 1/4

    c) 1/2

    If the son inherits the normal X from the mother, he will have normal vision. If he inherits the X with the color blind allele, he will be color blind.

    Confusing question. What does "carry the trait" mean?

    If the woman is colourblind herself, all the sons will be colourblind, and none of the daughters will be. All daughters would have a healthy X-chromosome from daddy

    If the woman is a carrier and not colourblind herself, none of the daughters would be colourblind, and the chances for sons are 50 %. Sons don't have an X-chromosome from daddy, so it depends on the X-chromosome they get from mommy
