    You will need to figure out 1/5 (one fifth) of 3 kilograms. Remember that, in fractions, a fraction "of" something means multiplication. 

    "1/5 of 3kg" is like saying "1/5 x 3kg"

    But it will be easier if you convert the kilograms into grams. There are 1000 grams in a kilogram ("kilo" means "1000" in Greek). 

    1/5 x 3000g(rams) 

    Put your whole number (3000) over a 1 and do the math. 

    1/5 x 3000/1 = 3000/5 

    aka "3000 divided by 5" which equals 600g (or 0.6 kilograms in decimals)

    You could also cross cancel the 5 and the 3000, if you know how to do that in multiplication of fractions.
