The major networks will die and everything will be streaming packages .
About time because they stopped carrying movies, most sports and any interesting programs.
Their news shows are lying garbage.

It hasn't abdicated its position. It still holds the title.

Probably not, since streaming lets you stop a program, go do something else, and come back later to finish the program.

Never. TV is too fragmented. There are too many channels competing for too few advertiser dollars. They can't provide quality programming as they once did. The money just isn't there to have quality programs in the numbers of old. At one time it was normal to have 39 episodes of TV shows each season. Today a season may be as few as 10 episodes and each episode costs more to make than an entire season of shows once did. Then there are additional competition for the few good programs from not just the networks and 140 other channels, but from Netflix and other streaming services. Overall the competition has driven quality down instead of enhancing it.
