The engine of a car transfers the energy stored in gasoline into thermal energy and kinetic energy of the vehicle. in a typical car, only 20% of the energy stored in the gasoline becomes kinetic energy. At moment 1, the car has 1 L of gasoline in its tank. At moment 2, that amount of gasoline has been consumed.
