Update:

@ CT - Très intéressant

@ Pronk - I see you tore her off a strip

@ BK - Oak...

@ Anon - At least you weren't barking up the wrong tree!

@ gibbs - However, it might be worth branching out

@ JL - I wood expect nothing less

@ Gladys - SNAP!

Update 2:

@ Anon - but don't branch out

@ HB - I could be the lonesome pine.

@ F - there were a lot more than tree of them there

@ Mrs H - I'm sure you would never  come up with acorny one.

Update 3:

@ MJB - But I'm glad you logged in today

@ V - You would have us all in the palm of your hand!

@ Jack - maybe it needed sprucing up.

    This may sound tearable,but when a lady called me a lumbering oaf;

I really laid the wood to her.

OAK , YEW ASHed for it. Hey that’s TREE FIR a start. I’m just having a LARCH, that’s PLANE to see.

I’ll LEAF it there and think of some SYCAMORE when  I’m a bit ELDER or should that be ALDER? Don’t PINE when I’ve gone.

I’m sure this will be the most poplar answer.

    It’s ACER. CEDAR later!
