What should future wife do about her last name ?

She was born Jane Hammond she got married once that didn't work out. Her prior married was Jones, after the divorce she put her name as Jane Hammond - Jones .  My last name is Jones so does she need to change it to Jones again or keep it as it is Jane Hammond-Jones.

She does whatever she wants. She could change back to just Jones, or leave it as it is.

Given the sheer amount of paperwork involved in changing it, I'd suggest she doesn't bother.

There is no "should". It's her name, and so her choice, although she might want to discuss it with you....

She can just keep it as it is. Marriage alone doesn't affect a legal name change so it's not like the "Jones" that's already there is recorded somewhere as having belonged to her ex. She'd have had to affirmatively apply for a name change with the Secretary of State of the place where she lives and that's entirely separate from any marriage she may have or used to have.

In our ( old fashioned ) world the reason for changing the name is that we were going to ( and have) spent our whole lives together.  It is much more convenient to have the same last name.  Today where marriages are transient flings what does the name even matter to you?

It's her decision and hers alone.
