Surely, your points are (3, 2) and (r, -4)..??
Slope => (-4 - 2)/(r - 3) = 3/2
i.e. 2(-4 - 2) = 3(r - 3)
so, -4 = r - 3
Hence, r = -1

I only remember the Slope Intercept form y =mx + b
Sub in (3 , 2) to determine 'b':
2 = 3/2(3) + b
2 = 9/2 + b
b = 2 -9/2
b = 4/2 - 9/2
b = -5/2
Now sub in (r -4)
-4 = 3/2(r) -5/2
and solve for r
-4 + 5/2 = 3/2 r
etc
r = -1
