Where could I go?

I am a 31 year old woman. I am about to be kicked out of the house. I don't have a job because I quit because of stress. Is there a place I can go to that will help me find a job? Maybe shelter me too?

Did you forget your post that you were fired?  Yes, go to an employment agency.  No, you can't move into an employment agency office.

Stress?? We all have to deal with stress. Quitting won't help. Never forget; if it was fun, they wouldn't have to pay you to do it. Where do you go? You should have thought this out BEFORE you quit. Go down town and ask the elderly lady pushing a grocery cart containing all her belongings. She will be better qualified to tell you where to go than anyone here.

    A women's shelter, or a church temporarily.

Maybe speak with someone from HUD... it seems like that may be their area of expertise, since they help people to become self-sufficient. Since more jobs are becoming available, you could also look into different temp staffing agencies. Sometimes these pay better than actually being employed at these places. Dress nice, bring a resume... set an appointment with some temp agencies. You have to find a job first, before becoming a room-mate. As far as shelter goes, if your parents won't let you stay with them while you are job seeking, I'd talk to the HUD person, and if that person does not know, then ask to be directed to some person who can give you that information. Remember, don't be disheartened, but be prepared to work hard.... and don't let your anxiety keep you from doing what absolutely needs to be done. Once you land a good job, then a lot of that stress will be alleviated. Your father and mother can be support systems, but when they pass away, you would still have to figure out what to do. Also, when you have a job, it's easier finding a GOOD partner, not just some loser that you shack up with -- and by loser, I mean a person who will take advantage of you, and not be a good partner. We all need support in life, but there are those who only take, even your sense of peace. Whether we have a room-mate or a partner, we have to work, and contribute
