He was a cheat and a drug addict. Let’s stop saying how great he was and give the kids a better role model ( but not Mr Sanctimonious Rashford) .

I am sure all soccer enthusiasts and Argentinians, will.
Pete Reid, I am not so sure.
The children he denied were his for decades..........probably not so much.
The women he abused.......less so.
His drug dealers, will miss an excellent rich client.
Just saying..........most of what I know of Maradona, came AFTER his football career, and his drug fueled spiral into scandal after scandal-
and anyone watching the "Hand Of God" goal.....clearly sees he cheated.
@ Micheal......I am positive, all the time!!!!!!
I am POSITIVE he was kind of a scumbag actually, who cheated in a world cup semi final......a poor example for children , turning to drugs the way he did, and what kind of MAN fathers all those kids, and then denies it, for years........before finally being forced to admit, that okay........the kids are actually his.
That's just straight up scumbag-ish.
Hey, I am sure he was a hell of a soccer player.......but in 1985......in America, no one gave a crap about soccer. I remember decades of his scandals though.
Shoot me that I remember the second half of his life, and not the first half.
I was busy working my way thru college in those years, and didn't have time to watch grown men kicking a ball around---like the outcome mattered one whit.Source(s): This answer Vega-Intensity approved.
