Would a surplus LMTV be any good as a hunting truck?

That depends on what you want out of a hunting truck. Every hunter that I know, including me, uses their truck as transportation to where they hunt, and to haul the equipment needed for the hunt as well as any game they take. A simple, basic truck suits this need. A LMTV is a troop truck and heavy equipment truck. Do you really think it's the best tool for the job you intend to do?

Mybe if you're hunting the African big 5, you'd need the load capacity. For any lesser game, a half-ton Ram, Chevy, GMC, or Ford will do.

Its hard to say without knowing where you want to hunt, or what and how you'll be hunting? The light LMTV would be off the charts cool, but... If it breaks down, how easily can you get parts? Not every NAPA carries parts for them 'off the shelf". Any truck from the big 3 with a camper shell and a winch will work.
