Why can't humans eat off the ground?

Every other thing can and does, including 2nd and 3rd world humans. So separating one's self from humanity, as if writing a Nat Geo piece, what are the implications of NOT eating what you freshly killed or picked off the dirt you pooped on?

  • Hello, i add, a life has diversity from a god, thus a human nature is adequated and each one love its/his nature, e.g. he like eat from the kitchen table, but any creator can simulate another but is indirectly but not directly from politeness but not from an impossibility, e.g. animal has fur then human can wear fur jacket..

Because we have hands that can grip and hold food while we eat, we do not have to eat from the ground. Animals like squirrels, monkeys, apes, and even parrots can use their hands or feet to hold food. It is an advantage to have hands that can hold food.  It keeps dirt and sand from getting inside our stomach. Sand and dirt have no nutritional value. In fact even frogs may use their hands to wipe off loose sand or dirt from their food before swallowing even though they catch food with their tongues or jaws instead of their hands. That also means a frog is smarter than people who would eat food off the ground instead of using their hands.

Your teeth would be worn down by chewing on sand.  It happens.  Historically and prehistorically, people without teeth tended to live a shorter time than people with 'em.

If you don't mind getting numerous disease and parasite infections, go ahead!

Some of the most fundamental-level disease control is down to using boiled or filtered water to prevent infection by microorganisms and parasites or their eggs,

plus proper cleaning, preparation, and cooking of food.

That's why the western world does not tend to get epidemics of such as cholera, typhus and other diseases common where people do not have safe drinking water and sanitary facilities.

If you live in the savanna you could eat off the ground or straight from the tree - and you would know not to poop where you eat. If you live in an urban environment with millions of other people you can't do it because there are just too many germs.

It's like you can have a few chickens in a run or in the wild and they are all healthy. But if you put 10,000 in a shed to lay eggs they have to be pumped full of antibiotics or they all get ill and die.

Why don't you just go ahead and do that?
