what to do about large rat or mouse?
not sure if it is a mouse, if it is, it is a huge one..as it is bigger than the mouse trap i had set out for it...so what should i do? how serious? HOW COMMON A THING TOO? why?

the usual option is poison but you can try a live trap and then release.
i caught 4 of the bloody things on my bird feeder so swapped the sunflower hearts for grain rat poison over one night.
i don't think they had enough to kill them but it must have made them sick as they have not returned.
if it is a rat do not use a mouse trap as it may just lop off an arm or leg.
i assume you just want it gone and not to suffer.

My dad shot one hiding in a kitchen drawer with his .22. Mom did not like that. [Do not use a gun in the city.]

Rats need access to water, mice don't. So if you find it visiting your sink it is a rat. rats are notifiable in my part of the world, meaning the Council comes and deals with it by trapping or poison.
