Is it selfish to want to work from home?

I'm stuck in Los Angeles where most companies only

pay half of what you need to live on. Wouldn't it best

to work from home (online) so I can get the he-- out of LA?

The only decent remote/online jobs I could find were

medical-coding, tarot-card reading, customer-support.
