Why do preachers say you have to tithe in order to keep your job?

Hi, maybe you have misunderstood Christianity. When a person tithes, it is according to the Bible to give to God cheerfully as an expression of one's gratefulness of God's salvation, and also to bless the worldwide church.
Some Christians believe in tithing, while other Christians believe in giving an offering in the church.
How one manages his money is an expression of how one treats God.
Many people have been blessed in their jobs and families after they have tithed. Even an agnostic friend of mine said that when one gives to the poor or bless the community, it comes back to you. Surprisingly to an agnostic, when one gives money to the community and the church, it comes backs to you as blessings. I have experienced blessings when I give to the church.
Best regards. Peace be unto you.

Money, money, new home, new automobile, etc.
The law requiring tithing was part of an exclusive covenant between God and the nation of Israel. Exodus 19:3-8 Only the Israelites were bound by that law.
The Bible states categorically that the sacrificial death of Jesus, in 33 C.E., blotted out, or abolished, the Law and with it the “commandment to collect tithes.” Colossians 2:13, 14
the Bible also shows that Christ fulfilled the Law, and God brought it to an end; so Christians are not bound by its regulations.
They do not tithe, nor are they under obligation to give any other contribution of a specified amount or at a particular time.
Paul wrote to the Christian congregation in Corinth: Let each one do just as he has resolved in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion.
Christians are not under the Law covenant given to Israel. Thus, they are not obliged to give a set amount to God.

You have to tithe in order for THEM to keep THEIR job.

Because you have to tithe in order for them to keep their job, or at least to make quite as much money out of it as they do.

Because they're the direct beneficiaries of the tenth that they demand. John the Baptist baptized people without asking for anything. Jesus healed lepers and cured the blind, raised the dead, and demanded nothing in return. The original "tithe" from early Christians was to be distributed to help the poor - not to pay some self-aggrandizing a*****e who was only interested in increasing his own pile of cash.
People that say that you must send them money to "get right with Gawd" are nothing more than charlatans and outright bums. They're extortionists; saying that bad things will happen to you unless you pay off Gawd.

God does not require us to tithe, that was a Law given only to the Israelites/Jews, it was for the supporting of the Levites who did not get a land inheritance. Today God loves a cheerful giver, one giving what he determines in his heart and not under compulsion.

A lot of preachers are told to preach about giving because the leaders who placed them there are spending money faster then it is collected! Tithing goes back to Abram when he gave a tenth of the booty retrieved when he rescued the captives from Sodom and Gomorrah to priest Melchizedek of Salem. Under the Jewish law it was a tax to pay the Priests.

Because they worship money and want to steal from the poor.
