Why is Brazil's main language Portuguese and when that language originated from Portugal ?

Because Brazil was colonized by the Portuguese.

For exactly the same reason that the rest of South and Central America speak mostly Spanish and the USA and Canada speak mostly English. It depends on the European power that colonised that part of the Americas.
