A painter used 1 1/2 gallons of paint to paint 3/4 of a room. At this same rate, how many gallons will it take to paint the whole room?

I need the explanation for it please to thank you.

    Let x be the amount of paint needed for a whole room (in gallons).

    ¾x = 1½

    Multiply both sides by 4 to get rid of denominators:

    3x = 6

    Divide both sides by 3:

    x = 6/3

    x = 2 gallons

    6/4 gallons of paint was used to paint 3/4 of a room so 2/4 of pain is needed to paint 1/4 of a room so 1/2 gallon of paint is needed to paint 1/4 of a room so 2/4 x 4 = 8/4 = 2 gallons of paint are needed to paint the whole room
