In 1993 a penny was worth 1 US cent.

Since 1982 US the "one cent piece" is made out of copper-plated zinc.
The colloquial term 'penny' derives from the British coin of the same name

In the UK, pennies minted in 1992 and earlier were 97-100% copper.
Pennies minted after 1992 were steel with a copper coat, to make them look like copper.
I don't think zinc was used.

If you are talking US pennies --- not possible

Supposing the penny is from the U.S., it is more than possible, but he proportions are not 1/2 and 1/2. See the source below (especially the "Specifications") for the United States Mint's description of pennies made after 1982.

From what country? A lot of countries prpduce penny coins, most of them are 99% zinc and 1% copper plating

A UK penny coin in 1993 is made of copper-coated steel. The previous metal alloy used had a higher material value than the face value of the coin so the cheaper materials were introduced in 1992.
