Should I downsize my piercing myself ? ?

Due to Covid, all the piercing shops, including the one I got my tongue piercing done at is closed until December. I was supposed to get my tongue downsized today but I can't, I'm wondering if I should buy the right size and do it myself or if I should wait until December ? I know it's not great to keep the longer bar in for too long

Ideally you would travel to an open piercing studio that will have sterilized jewelry.  Depending on where you live and the laws right now that might not be possible to do.

If you do downsize on your own, make sure you have implant grade jewelry, and that it comes sterilized in an autoclave.  One of my favorite body jewelry places online will sterilize the jewelry for you in an autoclave, and they offer affordable implant grade jewelry https://bodyartforms.com/

Once you have the clean jewelry, follow a tutorial on how to do it, or even have a trusted friend help.  With facial/oral piercings, having a friend help is good because you can't see everything properly.
