Performing a dynamic warmup before you run, as well as cooling down properly and stretching after your run, can help prevent/reduce soreness. Also, being well hydrated, running on asphalt rather than concrete (or a rubberized track or dirt trail is even better). You can also soak in a hot Epsom bath or make a hot Epsom salt compress to reduce muscle soreness.
