will Scotland ever become independent?

    Yes.    The catch is when Great Britain was part of the EU and Scotland talked about getting its independence GB said they would black ball Scotland if it tried to get into the EU.    Scotland likes the EU so did not push for independence.    NOW GB has pulled out of the EU and if Scotland wants to stay in,  it needs to become independent.   Since GB is no longer part of the EU it can not black ball Scotland and Portugal has already said if Scotland is independent and seeks to join the EU then Portugal would sponsor Scotland.  So yes,  I see it could happen.

    Not in the near future. They voted in a referendum to stay part of the UK six years ago. Only the Scottish Nationalists have asked for another referendum, which won't be granted.
