Why is 2020 set to be the warmest year on record?

Because we have only been keeping records for a relatively short period in history and only after emerging from an ice age.

Possibly because my thermostat is on the blink. I've called British Gas about it, but it's been a week now. Bloody place is over 30 deg., so it must be having an effect on the outside by now.

IF that is correct, then it will probably be the reduction in reflected sunlight from less atmospheric pollution (reduction in Global Dimming) which is happening because the coronavirus means less use of fossil fuels.  That plus a general warming trend from the increase in CO2.

It's quite possibly due to the global warming problem facing the world today although the blame should not be placed on Trump or the U.S. I believe the major concern should be emerging and former 3rd world countries such as China, India and others.
