Cheapest car ferry From North West UK to Northern Ireland?

Plan to drive from Cheshire, UK to Londonderry, Northern Ireland, 2 adults, one kid. What's the cheapest way to get there?

Also plan to bring a dog back - is car ferry or flight cheapest option and what companies?

Thanks!

Depends on how far in advance you book, what time of day and what day you are travelling......... cheapest and easiest is ferry especially if you are planning on carrying a dog...and check the particular ferry company website about dog travel...some will require the dog to be left securely in the car, some will have kennels you will need to book, some have pet sitters on board. I travel reguarly my dogs ALWAYS remain in the car, but I have a dog gate on the car and cover the whole car with a sheet and once I do that they know it means 'sleep'... you can't ususally take the dog with you into the passenger area and so think about journey time, England to Belfast/Larne are about 6-8 hours that the dog will be alone ( you can't normally go and check on them and it is best you don't disturb them anyway cost is from £109 each way) Scotland to Belfast/Larne is just over 2 hours ( from £79 each way)
