    If you mean "cleaning the limescale off the innards", run white vinegar through it pushing the "steam" button from time to time, then rinse by using distilled water. (Turn it on after you've filled it.)  For the soleplate, rubbing it with a non-scratch (not "Brillo") pad using a mild cleaner (such as dishwashing liquid) works, making sure the iron is unplugged and COLD.  If you are doing both, do the soleplate first.

    Run white vinegar through it a few times (with heat).  The acetic acid dissolves the calcium deposits.
