If Trinity is true, how come there is no mention of it in the Old Testament?

Because the trinity wasn’t a trinity till Jesus came along and he is in the New Testament.

God has a whole lot of different names in the Old Testament.

God reveals Himself in three Persons all the way through the Old Testament.
You are just ignorant, presumably wilfully.

The Trinity is not stated anywhere in the bible, it is simply implied in the NT. The OT could only have the Father and Holy Spirit since no Son was involved yet. The Holy Spirit is never described as a person but rather an "effect" of God's presence. Just as the Son is not mentioned in the OT, there are verses that could be wrongly interpreted to imply the Son in the OT. This is mostly due to the NT writers reverse engineering the character of Jesus from borrowing many verses from the Greek translated OT called the Septuagint. This leads christians with an untrained eye to see prophecies about the coming Jesus when there are none, where understanding OT verses in their full context demonstrates this much. To the untrained eye, the Trinity concept is certainly supported. That's why christians disagree about the concept of the Trinity, because a better trained eye does not support the Trinity.

The word 'Trinity' is not be found in the NT either, just as the word 'Bible' is not be found in the NT or the OT. Yet the teaching of the immensity of the Godhead absolutely does start in the OT and culminates in the NT with God revealing to Peter just who Jesus Christ really is. And especially after Jesus' resurrection did the disciples realize He is God, as Thomas exclaimed - "My Lord and my God!" and the risen Christ accepted that worship.
But you ask about the OT. There is no formal teaching of the Trinity there just as there is no formal teaching of the resurrection of the dead - only a few whispers of it. There is no formal teaching of some going to be with God in Heaven - only a few whispers of it. There is no formal teaching of the Church that Jesus would build - only a few whispers of it.
"The new is in the Old concealed, and the old is in the New revealed." Both the OT and the NT are essential, requiring to be put together to grasp how God gradually revealed Himself over the centuries, supremely in the person of the Son of God, the Word, who IS God, and who made everything that was made. Read the first 14 verses of John's gospel and compare them with the first few verses of Genesis - "In the beginning..."

Because Jesus Christ revealed it to humanity. People of Old Testament times didn't have a clue that God existed as a Trinity, or many of the other truths Jesus Christ revealed to His Church.

Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.
Do you think these things are said by accident or that God was talking to Himself?

People have tried to 'insert' the trinity into the Old Testament, but this is not an honest understanding of the scriptures.
Honest trinitarians admit the trinity isn't taught in any of God's word, not just the Old Testament.
Honest trinitarians admit that at best ~ the trinity is only 'hinted at' in the New Testament.

Actually, it starts out with the triune God making an entrance in Genesis. God, the Word and the Spirit are in the first few verses.
They’re all there.Source(s): Jesus follower
