Why does it seem like near-death experiences make someone worse?

They seem inclined to change their ways, but eventually they become more toxic and their negative attributes come to a boiling point.

Like Lala, I would think that a near-death experience would make someone a better person. They would have glimpsed into a calmness and oneness of all. They would therefore be much kinder towards others.

This has been studied since the 1970s. There's no evidence to back up what you say.
