Chicagoans: does your city's style deep dish pizza have sauce between the crust & toppings also or sauce is only on top of toppings?

    Traditional 'deep dish' pizza in Chicago has sauce on top of the toppings only based on a few dinners at Lou Malnati's with colleagues.  Honestly, the better option in the city is their tavern-style thin crust pies.
