WHAT INSECT IS THIS I’M SCARED?

Like what the actual hell. It’s about the size of 4 pennies placed next to each other, was flying, and was found in Portugal (at night). Any help is very much appreciated.

It is thistledown, i.e. the pappus designed to transport a seed to a new location.

It looks like a cottonwood seed!

I don't see any legs or body or anything.

GACK!  It's the poisonous floating seed insect.  Be careful.  They are deadly!

Seed from a milk weed .  I have many in my pastures and they can float for miles .  I don't see the seed still attached on that one .

Not any insect or invertebrate animal. I will go with vegetation seed, Ever see dandelion seeds, this is much the same.
