Why do you think the religious constantly battled throughout history?

They like to play a game. That game is called “my sky daddy is stronger than your sky daddy”.
Unfortunately, those that don’t want to play that game, end up dying because of that game.

They opposed satan, who only hates them.

Because we are the Church Militant. A person can know numerous truths about the historic battles of the Church by way of having true devotion to St. Catherine of Siena, a virgin and stigmatist who lived from 1347-1380. She is the patron saint of protection against fires, among other patronages. She is also one of only four female Doctors of the Catholic Church.

You've received several comments on this question. However, let's consider this Scripture from the Bible - John 17:17 - Sanctify them by means of the truth; your word is truth. - - - - Please bear with me to give you evidence from God's word about your question. First, let's see what God's word of truth says about religion in this world - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 – 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder, for Satan himself keeps disguising himself as an angel of light. 15 It is therefore nothing extraordinary if his ministers also keep disguising themselves as ministers of righteousness. But their end will be according to their works. - - - - Jesus warned of false teachers, calling them "ravenous wolves" - Matthew 7:15-20 - 15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets who come to you in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits you will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise, every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, nor can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits you will recognize those men. - - - - "Ravenous wolves" would be in harmony with religions being so divided and battling each other all down through history! But did you notice that Jesus said that it is by such conduct that these people will be recognized? However, God has always had a group of people that DO FOLLOW his direction and guidance. Let's consider 3 Scriptures where God's word gives direction to people that want to have his approval - Proverbs 25:21 - If your enemy is hungry, give him bread to eat; If he is thirsty, give him water to drink, - - - - (Jesus' words here) - Luke 6:27 - “But I say to you who are listening: Continue to love your enemies, to do good to those hating you. - - - - Romans 12:20 - But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; - - - - Certainly, these Scriptures are in stark contrast to what we see in the religions of this world. As I mentioned above, God has always had people that want to live by his word. Who really do treat people in harmony with the 3 Scriptures quoted about how to treat those that hate them. Jesus' words in this Scripture give a clear distinction between those that are like ravenous wolves and those that have God's approval. Who are Jesus' real followers. Please note - John 13:35 - By this all will know that you are my disciples — if you have love among yourselves. - - - - And they would be completely united in their conduct and in their teachings - 1 Corinthians 1:10 - Now I urge you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you should all speak in agreement and that there should be no divisions among you, but that you may be completely united in the same mind and in the same line of thought. - - - -
So, can we find these people in the world today? People that have love to the extent that they even treat those that hate them with kindness. Yes, there are over 8 million from all parts of the earth. They are busy doing what Jesus said they would be doing all over the entire inhabited earth - Matthew 24:14 - And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. - - - - If God's word really is the truth, we should be able to find these people all over the earth. All acting with love toward each other and toward their fellow man. God's word in the book of Daniel also shows that many would "rove about" and "true knowledge" would become "abundant" - Daniel 12:4 - “As for you, Daniel, keep the words secret, and seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rove about, and the true knowledge will become abundant.” - - - - This Scripture, along with Jesus' words in Matthew 24:14 both indicate that this work would be active during the time of the end. This activity has been going on for decades. The preaching work is being done right now in 240 lands around the globe. It is available online in over 1000 languages! We must be getting close to the fulfillment of Jesus' words at the end of Matthew 24:14, where he said - "then the end will come." We might ask, WHY don't people all over the world recognize this work being done? Satan is working hard to keep people blind and distracted from seeing this work - 2 Corinthians 4:4 - among whom the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that the illumination of the glorious good news about the Christ, who is the image of God, might not shine through. - - - - God's word also tells us how to protect ourselves from false religious teachings and from those that twist the Scriptures. First, about those that twist the Scriptures - 2 Peter 3:16. . . and these things the ignorant and unstable are twisting, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. - - - - And then the guidance God gives to protect ourselves - Acts 17:11 . . . carefully examining the Scriptures daily to see whether these things were so. - - - - Since God's word is the truth, we can examine it closely to make sure we are getting accurate knowledge. There is no greater treasure to be found. Bible truth liberates us from superstition, confusion, and morbid fear. It gives us hope, purpose, and joy. Jesus said: “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”—John 8:32. - - - - Jesus assures us that we can KNOW the truth. And that truth sets us free from all sorts of false religious teachings. Free from being influenced by "ravenous wolves." With the forgoing in mind, I invite you to visit the following web site where free Bible lessons are offered online. But ALWAYS examine the Scriptures carefully. To prove to yourself that you are really getting accurate knowledge. Because that is what God wants for everyone. To have accurate knowledge that leads to salvation - 1 Timothy 2:4 – whose (God’s) will is that all sorts of people should be saved and come to an accurate knowledge of truth. - - - - The site is:

Why do you think the non-religious constantly battled throughout history?
- Anonymous2 months ago
Because they invade places they have no business to invade.
Despite their claims, religion is NOT peaceful, that is a front for their violence and hatred. Their words tell us one thing, their actions something very different.
Religion has always put "us" against "them", so the battles are not surprising.
Ghost here provided the reason the church does that, they lust for power and are the most greedy demographic on earth. And the most dishonest.

People have constantly battled throughout history. The underlying reasons are greed and a lust for power, but religion has often been used as an excuse.
