if you are mixing gasoline to oil ratio 50:1, would 5 gallon of gas be times by what is put in a single gallon?

so I developed that formula

50:1 OIL to gas ratio for 1 gallon of gas is 2.6oz of oil

if you have a 5 gallon gas tank, it would be 5 x 2.6oz = 13 oz of oil.

is this correct?

The answer depends on whether the requirement is 50:1 by WEIGHT or 50:1 by VOLUME.  For 2-cycle engines your calculation is correct.

    No.

    It is NOT correct.

50:1 Fifty to one. It's not OIL to GASOLINE ratio. It's GASOLINE to OIL ratio. FIFTY units of GASOLINE , to ONE unit of OIL.

A gasoline mix is for a two stroke. A mix like that for a four stroke is not needed & will smoke.
