What Was The Real Reason Leopold & Loeb Killed Bobby Franks?
The commonly-circulated story is that it was a "thrill killing," a "scientific experiment" by two overeducated rich kids trying to find out "what it felt like to be a murderer." Now that it is commonly acknowledged that Leopold & Loeb were homosexuals (a topic which could not be discussed in the 1920's), isn't a better explanation that they decided to sodomize Bobby Franks and then killed him to keep him quiet? If that is not true, why did they pour sulfuric acid on his genitals?

Quite possible, as the two perps were quite psychopathic.

That theory is as good as the others.
What was said in court can't be dismissed. They did confess to murder to experience the thrill of doing it and of watching the investigation, believing that they were too smart to be exposed, or not bound by social norms.
Another was that Bobby was a weakling and they thought he was not fit to live. The "ubermench" theory and genetic breeding was in vogue then.
Another recent theory is that the boys had Asperger's Syndrome.
