Can I build a prefab home without owning land? ?

I want to purchase a prefab home and would love to build it in Las Vegas but land is extremely expensive. Is there a cheap way to build a home without spending so much on land? Are there communities that allow you to build a home as long as you pay them for staying on their property?

No--this won't be possible. You need your own land to build on. For many reasons. Your house can't be valued unless you own your land--you aren't going to get a building loan or mortgage--it would be a nightmare to build on some place you may not be allowed to stay permanently.

Check into buying land from the government--see if there is anything available in Nevada. There are lots of government lands there--and you might be able to find something inexpensive. But don't try to 'rent' land to build a house on. You may end up losing it after it's been built.

You could if someone else owning the land agreed to let you do so; you'd be a leaseholder then.

    But realistically; no.

In the UK you can provided you are a “traveller”. Anyone else the local council orders you to tear it down.

You have to have land to put the home on. Either leased land or land you own. If you don't want to spend Vegas prices, don't put it in Vegas.

You can, but the moment you do, the home becomes owned by the property owner serving to increase the value of the property to the owner.  You might want to consider looking for more rural property and commuting as that is where you will find lower priced land for sale.

What happens when they don't want to rent the land to you anymore?  Would you have the money to move the house?

You could look into a long time lease of the land, but you would still have to pay for that right.  If someone just let you build, they could tell you to move it or sell the land and you would be stuck.    You might try a trailer/modular home park

You'd need a very long term lease.

You can't get a mortgage for a home without owning the land underneath.  You would have to go to a trailer park that allows trailers and/or double wides and pay lot rent.
