Conduction System of Heart?

How does the conduction system of the heart facilitate the smooth coordinated contraction of the heart that is important for it to function as a pump?

By getting the signals from the natural pacemaker (the S-A Node) to the various locations in the heart muscle at the right times to contract most efficiently.

This works because the signals propagate much faster through the conductive fibers than through the muscle tissue itself.  And much slower through the A-V Node than through either the fibers or the muscle tissue.
