Championship football ..What's this "drinks break" malarkey ?

Leeds are playing in Swansea and they've had to stop playing as the temp is an unbearably hot 20 degrees. Wtf? Is this permanent thing in football from now on?

They taking breaks because it’s middle of summer and not all players ar at full fitness due to lockdown

  • It's being used at all levels during the return. It lasts one minute of each half.  Take a deep breath.

  • its a precautionery originally temporary measure,    given the long time without playing and the probability of avg temps being higher at  this time of year,  and the number of matches being played in a much shorter time scale....in theory to help stop as many injuries

This is also the same philosphical reasoning behind the 5 substitutes allowed, despite claims it is much more advantageous to the richer clubs..

will these changes  become permanant,  that will depend on the reaction of football pundits and the media, my opinion  drinks get dropped 5 subs might stay.....

They are more tactical breaks than a drinks break. They are mini team-talks, every single one of them. Leave this for the next world cup when they WILL need them

It's one of the new rules for Covid to account for the fact the players had a 2 month break and no proper pre-season
