How many grams of Al2O3 are produced when 31.4 grams of O2 react completely with Al? 4 Al (s) + 3 O2 (g) → 2 Al2O3 (s)?

    4 Al (s) + 3 O2 (g) → 2 Al2O3 (s)

    moles of O2 = mass of O2 / molar mass of O2 = (31.4 g)/(31.9988 g/mol) = 0.981 mol

    moles of Al2O3 = (2 moles Al2O3)/(3 moles O2) x 0.981 mol O2 = 0.654 mol

    mass of Al2O3 = (0.654 mol) * (101.96128 g/mol) =  66.7 g
