If a person never visited Britain and judged us merely by watching tv, what misconceptions would they gain?

They say that nobody's fat on American tv.  Gee, try going there!

You can't judge a country by watching television. You actually have to go there.

If they watched soaps like 'Coronation Street' or 'Eastenders' they might think we were all a bunch of weird psychiatric cases.   There is some truth in that assumption, because the actors and writers of those programs mostly are weird psychiatric cases who spend half their time on the pages of Sunday newspapers and the other half in jail for kiddy fiddling or similar.

If a person never met and merely judged you by YA, they would think you are an uneducated, unskilled, gammon chav, brietfart loser, from a place resembling a sewer, expect a soft but firm warm gift

If they watch the BBC they would get the idea that the country is riddled with racism, loves the EU and did not vote in huge numbers for Boris Johnson. None of which is true.

When in the Soviet Union I noticed they were mad keen on Miss Marple (Joan Hickson dubbed with an unlikely gruff voice) and Inspector Morse so presumably they must have thought that the homicide rate in idyllic rural villages and Oxford Colleges was off the scale.

They might think that britain is an african country. When the Obamas pitched up they only met black kids. The bbc eagerly pushes this non white agenda. So much for the laughable claim of racism and ‘white privilege’.

It depends what channel they watch. If it’s the BBC they might think that some of the plebs have more that two brain cells.

As a Brit they would probably say we watch a lot of rubbish and an awful lot of repeat shows/programmes, the BBC is the worst channel for repeats after repeats.

If the programme is about the Brits then they probably think that we all talk like the Queen, they will not realise that there are regional accents, and not everyone went to Harrow or Eton.
