Are all newly pressed vinyl records 180g or heavier?

It is like putting lipstick on a pig. LPs can be made to be as high quality as they can be made but the inherent limitations of the medium (low dynamic range, inaccurate frequency response and low signal to noise level) will never make them sound as good as CDs. As long as a needle is physically contacting a piece of plastic to generate sound, there is going to be noise and there is going to be wear and tear.

I don't know about all, but the new vinyl companies have realized that the market for vinyl is a premium market and that the people who buy new vinyl today would prefer to pay a little extra rather than have cheaper easily warped records.
