When you pay a BILLION dollars for the Franchise.....you gotta  RECOUP that Moola somehow.

Weird Al had a great line in his song  "Yoda"........about making these movies til the end of  time............and until they are all old and grey.

    He wasn't wrong.

Because the first ones were popular to immature people, so they stole millions of yen with them.

Because they always find dumb teenagers and young adults who keep watching them and pay money for it and of course some Star Wars fans who are masochists and like being frustrated. They wise Star Wars fans came to the conclusion that good Star Wars movies are gone,

Here's the thing. Disney wants money. The first trilogy was amazing and the prequels were actually not that bad but then disney came along and destroyed the whole franchise with pointless comedy and love stories and not enough focus on the real story of star wars! The only reason they are making more star wars movies is because of money.

It's a long lived movie franchise with a built in audience, and so long as they don't mess them up too badly they're guaranteed to turn a profit.  Aside from the box office profit, they're merchandising cash cows.  Coming up with something original is too much of a gamble for those who want guaranteed profit.

Why do they keep making James Bond movies

Or pirates of the Caribbean movies for that matter?

It’s rampant idiocy and greed in Hollywood

Star Wars is an OUTSTANDING environment in which to tell action type stories in a sci-fi-ish setting.  Much like Tolkien laid down the groundwork for everything that became high fantasy, Lucas laid the groundwork in which an infinite number of possible stories could be told.

The problem isn't the setting, the problem is that they have hired people that don't like Star Wars.  Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson in particular CLEARLY hate Star Wars.  No Star Wars fan should watch or consume ANY Star Wars anything until Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson are gone.

Because it's the single most profitable movie franchise in history! 🤑💲💰

I'm guessing money has something to do with it...
