Protecting magnetic contactor?

How I protect a magnetic contactor from lightning, surge and short circuit? Is it needed any extra protection?

How much time gap between two failed start (1st one trip because over current ,2nd one start (time after 1st one?) ,.....)       Thanks......

Magnetic contactor has limited capacity to withstand short circuits. Circuit breaker ( Preferably molded case ) can be used for short circuit protection. Central lightning protector can be used for for lighting protection. MOV( Metal oxide varrister) can be used for surge protection of magnetic contactor.

[1]  ELECTRICAL CONTACTER DOES NOT NEED PROTECTION FROM LIGHTNING.

[2] A CORRECT CONTACT CURRENT RATED CONTACT IS NEEDED TO FIT CURRENT UNDER CONTROLLED. NORMAL NEEDS AT LEAST TWICE HIGHER CURRENT RATE UNDER CONTROLLED.

EXAMPLE: TO CONTROL 10A, USE 15A OR HIGHER CONTACT CURRENT RATE,LIKE 20A IS EVEN BETTER TO LET IT LAST LONGER LIFE.  A FEW WAYS TO MAKE THE CONTACT PRODUCES LESS SPARK BY PARALLEL A 0.1uF CAPACITOR (for 230V power source, use capacitor voltage rate 1000Vdc type).
