Why were barber shops and hair salons among the first businesses to reopen despite being one of the few that can’t maintain social distance?

It's all a big experiment with people's lives. There's no chance of that happening in my country for a while. Non of them know what they're doing.

Lucky You. Here in the UK they are still closed and not opening until July. That is 4 months without a haircut.

I'm thinking about starting a pony tail again, like in my twenties. Will it be trendy?

That was one of the big things people were bi tching about. That they couldn’t get their hair cut. Not very surprising I guess in a country where toilet paper hoarding is also a big thing.

Because the only people who should be social distancing are those who are elderly or have compromised immune systems.

Yes, they can spread the virus. However, only the elderly and those with weak immune systems are at serious risk from covid-19. Around 80% of people who catch it recover without needing medical attention. A disease with a 98% survival rate isn't very scary.

Because everyone needs a haircut, and it will put a lot of people back to work.

People don't cut their own hair anymore.  Trump's people around here were demanding that barber shops reopen
