Why do people get upset when someone quits?

I see posts from “bosses” who are upset when an employee leaves? Why?

Depends upon the reasons the employees are leaving.  If it is a result of poor morale then that is the sign of a very ineffective boss/leader.  Maybe they leave because they want a higher paying job.  Who knows?

But a big factor is that it leaves the employer short-handed and costs a mint to find and hire someone new and pay for their training.  Also it depends upon how much training a new employee needs.

Where I worked for 32 years we have a 4 month training class just to cover the basics (8 hrs day/5 days week).  When we went to our assigned offices we were given a mentor for 1 year plus we continued to have in-depth training an hour a day for 6 months.  Even after one year of employment we didn't have anywhere near the knowledge of the more experienced employees.

Well then make sure it's a decent work environment with decent pay and then the employees will be less likely to quit.

Why do people get upset when one does not ask a proper question?
