    5! is 120: 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1, so that's correct.

multiplying comes first so 230-220*0.5= 230-110= 120. the person who told you it was five was probably messing with you cause youre gullible enough to go on here and ask lol :)

    Let’s say we are given the following problem;

    what is 150 - 6 ?

    A normal person would 144

    A knucklehead would say 12²

    A lunatic may say 4!3!

In case of your problem whoever told you 230-220*0.5 is 5! maybe one of the above people.

    It's all about BODMAS rule

    B(bracket)

    O(of)

    D(division)

    M(multiplication)

    A(addition)

    S(Subtraction)

Whoever told the answer is 5 ,didn't use the BODMAS rule

    First multiply 220*0.5

    Ans=110

    Now subtract 110 from 230

    230-110

Ans=120 which is also the final answer

    230-220*0.5

    multiplication first

    230-110

    120

    5! = 5•4•3•2 = 120

    PEMDAS

    Multiply is done before Subtraction

    230 - 110 = 120

    • Black66Hat2 months agoReport

It's about operators precedence... First do multiplication, 220*0.5=110, then substraction 230-110=120

You "were told"? I "was told" "what is" followed by a "?" question mark is a common way to was "where is the bathroom" in airports.

And you can, apparently, write plain English? That mathematics you ask on is no more difficult to write than that the English you wrote in. And about the same level of expertise.

How did you write the English if you don't write in the mathematics. And who are you anyway? Why should you "be told" anything?

You a crude spy? You need the OSS, or maybe Kremlin informed on you? Rude nasty people like north Koreans and Iranians want to kill everybody with nuclear weapons.

That mathematics has meaning just like this does. YOUR question is business mathematics.

A->B-C:D is not business mathematics but engineering mathematics.

But is it true? Why haven't you answered?

"I was told" mattered ten thousand years ago by the person that produced the original proofs not by some modern scrot that wouldn't know squat if it hadn't been "given" knowledgeable training by its superiors. It was told it was an idiot.

    230-220×0.5 = 230-110 = 120

    5! = 1×2×3×4×5 = 120
