Would real zombies need a functional heart or lungs?

Listen, this question may seem stupid but it’s purely theoretical and I’m trying to think of a somewhat reasonable zombie apocalypse plot. But anyways, to give context, let’s say there was some mutation on mad cow disease/CJD in humans (basically a degenerative neurological disease that sorta slowly destroys your brain cells and turns your brain into a sponge until you eventually die) that caused it to kill all your brain cells but leave your brain stem intact, which allowed you to stay “alive” as basically nothing more than a ravenous shell of a human, aka, a zombie. Would you need to have a functional heart to survive? Or lungs? A cut off of oxygen or blood supply to the brain of normal human for a prolonged period of time could cause severe brain damage, but if you’re a zombie, your brain is mostly dead? And if you didn’t need a heart or lungs, what could feasibly kill you? This feels like such a geeky question to ask but I don’t care because I’ve gone too far already, might as well go the rest of the way, aye?

No, In fiction anything is possible.

Hah a zombie would be a living organism of some sort otherwise it couldn't move because the nervous system needs to electrical signals to move the legs.

Real zombies are theoretically impossible - when you're brain is mostly dead, you're body is entirely dead. Without a functioning heart and lungs, the entire brain dies.

In the real world, you need lungs and a heart to pump around the blood with nutrients and oxygen to your muscles

In the real world, the entire concept is ludicrous and stupid. You can't make up nonsense on one hand and pretend to care about being realistic at the same time on the other.

Once you've left science behind, you're essentially in the land of magic, and anything you make up is equally unrealistic.

You made everything else fit your plot you have to decide if you want your zombies to have two left feet, a brain, or anything else not just something you want to come true.

already been done, see Black Tide Rising series  by John Ringo.

you need a functioning heart and lungs and circulatory system to move about, as well as a partially functioning brain.

You would need some kind of rapid mutation to allow for someone to survive without a functioning heart or lungs, they’re just as important as your brain for keeping you alive. A realistic “zombie” would be a virus that messes with your brain, rather than the dead actually coming alive. See movies like The Crazies for example on how a “zombie” apocalypse could realistically happen.

As far as we all know, we have not developed a way to have someone survive without a functioning heart and lungs while also be able to move enough to attack people. Until that kind of thing is possible, the closest thing would be a virus that causes people to go insane and attack everybody.
