    Yep. They're quite distinct.

There are many Australian accents and many British accents - but they're nothing like each other.

Yes, and I can tell an Australian from a New Zealand accent.

Yes I can recognize both and like them both.

Once I recognized an Albanian accent and the man who was Albanian got freaked out and ran out who was fixing my air conditioner.

It is a gift what can I say or maybe a memory of someone very special.

Yes, although there are many British accents, not just one.

There is more than one Australian accent, too.

Yes I can. Australians are fun and cool, Brits are repulsive and intolerable.

Actually, Britain's best athlete of all time is a cyclist from Edinburgh, Reeby.. But I wouldn't want to aggravate you too much, otherwise you'll end up revealing even more of your inferiority complex regarding all things British than you already have.

If you can't you're in good company. As an Englishman I've lived in the States for 12 years and still get asked on a daily basis "Are you Australian?"

That's unusual, then, because RP is the British accent with which Americans are most familiar. It's the one they hear most often in British films and television shows.  However, a lot of Americans don't watch British films or television shows at all.  .
