I thought I was sold rats but now I’m wondering if they are mice bc of the dark hairy tail. What do u think? They are 6 weeks old.?

    They are rats.  Baby rats may have a more hairy tail when young.  They will lose it when they get older.

    They are rats, but they are so cute! Not all mice have dark hairy tails, Rats are bigger then mice as well.

    Yep, those are rats. 6 week old mice are not much bigger than a peanut.

    Mice are smaller, lighter weight. Those are probably young rats. Here is a pic of a mouse. You can easily hold a mouse in your hand and its tiny little feet feel "small" in your hand.

    Looks like rats to me. Rats have a rounder face. Mice have a slender muzzle. Mice have round ears. Rats have oval ears. The size should be a dead giveaway. A rat at 6 weeks is much bigger than a mouse at 6 weeks. A mouse is considered full grown at about 3 weeks. A mouse is about 2-3 inches. A rat is at least twice that size. A full grown rat is about 8 inches without counting the tail.
