Stop caring of others?

I was told not to care what anyone thinks they aren't important except for family

    Not caring what others think of you is different from not caring about others. Of course, most of us care what others think of us, and if that encourages you to comb your hair and wear neat clothes, it's a good thing. If it stops you from doing things you want to do, it's a bad thing. Here's the gist of something I read one time that makes a lot of sense.

    In my twenties, I worried what other people thought of me.

    In my thirties, I stopped worrying about what other people thought of me.

    In my forties, I found out that they were never thinking of me at all-- they were too busy worrying what people thought about THEM!
