Why did Paul say that women shouldn’t speak in church?

The inspired scriptures are very clear that in the congregation and in the family the men must take the lead.  Even elders and ministerial servants (diakonos) have among their requirements, that they must be men. 1 Timothy 3; Titus 1

Fathers must teach their children by word and example about God, Jesus and the scriptures, and their wives must cooperate with that teaching.  Ephesians 6:4;  However, Christian women also have the command along with the men to preach publicly.  Matthew 24:14; Matthew 28:19-20

Mary, Jesus' mother was certainly an example of one who knew the scriptures very well.  In fact, in her prayer of praise which she expressed before Elizabeth, she quoted over 20 scriptures in reference to her deep appreciation of her great privilege of becoming the mother of the Messiah, Jesus. Luke 1:46-55

The spirit came upon both the men and the women at Pentecost according to the inspired prophecy in Joel, and they were all declaring in other languages about "the magnificent things of God."  Acts 2

Aquila along with his wife Priscilla both took aside and corrected Apollos in his understanding of the baptism of John.

Philip had four daughters who prophesied.

When the Christian congregation in Jerusalem was persecuted, everyone except the apostles were scattered abroad, but while they fled, they all, both men and women, preached the good news publicly.  Acts chapter 8

In the congregation meetings where I attended, women, as well as men, are trained in study and teaching of the scriptures to people of all sorts.  Women also have opportunities to express their experiences in doing this important work, in the congregation.

But they do not publicly dispute or try to question the qualified male speakers and teachers.  If they have a question, wives can speak to their husbands, and young daughters can speak to their fathers and mothers at home, in obedience to the counsel given under inspiration by the apostle Paul.

God is not hyper-concerned about what's between my legs. As a matter of fact, I believe He created me to be a woman because I probably would have never found Him if I was born as a man. I say this because I was a sex addict for decades. If I had been born as a man, I probably would have screwed anything that would let me... and died like my great-grandfather who perished from a nasty STD at 33 yrs. old.

Interestingly, he was like Joseph in the OT... my great grandfather was the treasurer to King Fuad the first of Egypt. He was filthy rich. He used to have women slaves wash his feet in champaign, and dry them with their hair. Juxtapose THAT against our humble ancestor Moses' story... or Joseph's... or how the restored prostitute washed Jesus' feet with her tears.

    Back to your question.

"Do whatever he tells you." These five words (should) sum up the life of the believer. Who spoke them? Mary, his mother, at the wedding in Cana, to the servants. BEST. PREACHING. EVER.

"Go and tell." The angel told the disciple Mary of Magdela. "Go and tell." This command to go and tell was to a woman. Mary the Magdaline woman was the first evangelist preacher.

Man-made religions are filthy-guilty of twisting God's words and worshiping a god of their own making. A god that is a misogynist. They need to humble themselves and repent immediately.

I'm sure they would counter what I said here with kitchy out-of-context catch phrases from our dear, beloved brother Paul... but then they'd be guilty of not knowing the hermenuetical context. The women Paul were writing about were turning the gatherings of believers into bawdy parties. Some were mouthing off. Some of them (and the men too) were gorging themselves and even getting drunk. Paul was addressing the MARRIED women when he said if they had questions, they should ask their husbands at home (because it was only right that only one of a couple should be speaking - the head of the household). What Paul wrote was to keep decorum so that the flock could learn, and to stop the rowdy behaviour, unbecoming of the people of God. It was not meant as a slant at women in general.

Later in the very same letter, Paul writes that we are all equals in Christ. Don't take my word for it. Read it yourself.

Yeah Paul may not have realised it, probably never heard of it but he  belonged to the White Male Patriarchy.

Even when he was crucified, he was a part of a bigger conspiracy

Shame he said that there was neither male or female in the Church.. kind of blows that theory. Maybe he was a secret transgender?

Paul was neither a Saint nor an Apostle, but a murderer named Saul of Tarsus who wiped out the original disciples and conceived of a LIE on the Road to Damascus. He utterly spoiled Jesus's original message. Jesus Himself hung out with and talked with women.

    Where?

Don't you remember "Deborah" the prophetess in Judges who was a Judge and led men?

Male chauvinist pigs misinterpreted Scripture to oppress women or Paul lied in Galatians 3:28 when he said "There is neither male nor female in Christ Jesus."

In I Corinthians 14:33 Paul spoke of "CONFUSION" in the Church and commanded women to keep (((SILENCE))) or keep down "CONFUSION" in the Church and NOT keep (((SILENT))) or not preach in I Corinthians 14:34 because when they were conducting business women overruled the men!

That's why I Corinthians 14:35 says "And if they will LEARN ANYTHING let them ask their husbands at home [Titus 2:12], for it is a shame [To overrule your husband and make him look bad.] for women to speak [Overrule husband] in the Church."

If you believe a husband can teach you anything spiritual to "LEARN ANYTHING" you don't know GOD!

How about the homes with no husbands they will never LEARN ANYTHING?

"GOD TEACHES" (Titus 2:12) SPIRITUAL THINGS!

The same word (((SILENCE VS SILENT))) is used in I Timothy 2:11-15) and was speaking of NATURAL THINGS (v9) or every woman who has had a child would be "SAVED" (I Timothy 2:15) believer AND unbelievers.

MALE CHAUVINIST PIGS WHO MADE "PRIVATE INTERPRETATIONS" NOT "MOVED BY THE HOLY GHOST" (II PETER 1:2-21) HAVE ALL YOU MALE CHAUVINIST PIGS

    IGNORANT LYING CATHOLIC TAUGHT ANTICHRIST!

Because in those days women were not educated. And their husbands were. [That Paul knew - at least] So it would have been best - Paul believed - if women would remain quiet in church and then ask their husbands for answers when they got home.

    Two reason,

    1. They still followed some of the Jewish customs, one of which was segregation during worship, which is still in practice in Orthodox synagogues today

    2.  In biblical times, and even up to only the 18th-19th century females didn’t really get the chance to have a formal education past basic reading and writing.

Paul was telling the Christian community that if a woman wanted to ask hr husband to explain something which was spoken by the preacher, to wait until after the service rather than causing an interruption by speaking to the men on the other side of the sanctuary.

If Paul was writing to the church in Corinth today, he probably would have said 'mobile phones and iPads must not be used during the service'

Those charged with oversight of a congregation are described in the Bible as being males. The 12 apostles of Jesus Christ were all males, and those later appointed to be overseers and ministerial servants in Christian congregations were males.

Thus, although women make valuable contributions to the activity of the congregation, there is no provision for them to preside, or to take the lead by instructing the congregation, when qualified men are present.

In keeping with this precedent, we find that the apostle Paul limited the appointment of congregational elders (and ministerial servants) to men. Moreover, he reminded Timothy: I do not permit a woman to teach, or to exercise authority over a man. 1 Tim. 2:12
