    moles CH3COOH = 0.24 mol/L X 0.5 L = 0.12 mol CH3COOH

    moles CH3COO- = 0.20 mol/L X 0.5 L = 0.10 mol CH3COO-

    Adding 0.005 mol NaOH will quantitatively convert 0.005 mol CH3COOH into CH3COO-. So, after the addition, moles CH3COOH = 0.115 and moles CH3COO- = 0.105

    Using a pKa = 4.74 for acetic acid,

    pH = pKa + log (0.105 / 0.115) = 4.70
